Could what appears like a video game teaser actually be Coca Cola’s none-too-subtle take on the Tibet-China issue?

The setting — the siege of a mountain fortress which, with its lungtas (Tibetan prayer flags ) and Potala -like structure within its ramparts – could easily have been Lhasa in the early 1900s. The inescapable symbolism of the red dragon as the aggressor says it all!

What follows is an attack by the hordes of the red dragon army against the fortress inhabitants who roll out an ice dragon in a bid at self-defence. True to its nature, the red dragon belches fire and brimstone – read China’s aggressive destructive policies. And no, the story doesn’t end with just the ice melting away at the fiery onslaught. In what may be the ultimate tribute to Tibet’s continued non-violent stand against China, there is a twist in the dragon’s tale, pun intended! The “Trojan ice- horse” melts away to reveal a veritable weapon of “happiness quotient” which transforms the destructive fire within the red dragon into celebratory fireworks!

Pure coincidence or a clever little message filled with symbolism?

Certainly much more respectful than the Groupon commercial. I liked the subtlety of it.
